I'm back!!!

It seems forever before I get back to blogging. I took a detour and took a web design class this summer. It was a very high pressured course, but I learned alot and certainly am not going to be proficient at this point. Just lots of practice. The big problem that I had is that I was working with a mac while the class was pc based, so whew! It was like learning two different languages at the same time. In between all of that, I have been having some medical tests done which hasn't been a lot of fun and even our instructor is going through a lot since he has cancer. I don't know if I would have been able to have stuck it out, but his love for teaching superseded over his illness.

Well, now that I am back, what have I done? Well not much at this point, but i have been trying to catch up on some trades. I did a dotee for a gal in Australia, I shall link more photos to view here.
I will regroup and get back to the old grind and start posting more frequently, so don't give up on me, ya hear! lol

Enchanted Threads

I took my logo and did some bling to it on glitter graphics. Wow, what fun! I never feel very adequate when it comes to doing things on the computer, so I find it all facinating when things work the way they do. I am learning to play more though with the classes that I am taking this summer.

It's in the bag

Here's a very simple and fun bag. I have never seen the directions for the humbug bag, but I assume it would be quite simular.




I started out with two fabrics and a cotton batting cut 12" X 9".






With the three layers, I free motion quilted them together and used a serger to sew all 4 sides. Sew the zipper on with the zipper face down on top of the right side of the fabric. Note I was using a zipper too long for the bag, but it doesn't matter because it can be shortened when we sew it in the seam.



Now turn the fabric so you can top stitch along the edge of your zipper on each side so that it will lay flat.



Now turn your fabric with right sides together and stitch the bottom of the bag across the zipper and trim off the excess bottom.




Use a ribbon and tack inside the top portion of your bag and sew the bag the opposite of the direction from the bottom. Turn right side out. Add a zipper pull if you wish.



Simply hang your bag when not in use.

My Wild Side

I have been known to be wild every now and then, but can be tamed quite easily!

I suppose dotees are mainly doll oriented, but i couldn't resist making animals too. (Sort of Ann Geddes style instead of animal faces) It's been an after thought, but I do
have a small paw print I could stamp on fabric for feet, just wonder if I could find one with a horseshoe print for the zebra.
I had some zebra buttons that I couldn't help but put on the tail. I don't know why, but the zebra reminds me of Delta Burke. lol
I will also have to add some more fun fur on the lion's tail. They are too cute! I can see other animals in the making. I may have to make 7 cats just for ornaments on our Christmas tree this year!

Getting High!

We don't spend as much money these days on long trips, but we jumped at the chance 4th of July weekend to go to Ashland Ohio to see the balloon fest! It was only a couple of hours away and a great way to spend the day. The sky was as blue as could be. I was half afraid we would end up getting rained out but luck was on our side even though the field was a bit muddy. One of my goals is to ride a hot air balloon. It didn't happen this year, but next year I will jump in line a lot quicker than anyone else!


It was fascinating watching them set up!

They cut the gas back with more oxygen giving it a golden flame instead of a blue flame to get the balloons to glow at night.

I got a bug!

O.K. got on a bug kick. This is Phoebe the Firefly! I painted her in glow in the dark paint to even make her more exciting! I also love this striped organza and painted glitter gem on it. Last week, I had picked up a big package of foam hands and somehow I knew I could use them somewhere and I felt this just the place for the wee ones!
