Summer Retreat

A week ago, 10 of us gals got together for a summer retreat and had an awesome time of fun and friendships. Much of the projects we did were smaller than usual, in fact many were purses! This purse was made by Irene. Aren't the fabrics and the purse gorgeous!?! Such striking and beautiful prints and colors!

We also had some new girls added to the group. This is Barbara.

and Carol

and Sandy M who spent time playing with her fabrics on the floor.

she made a salsa flavored bullseye wall quilt.

Carol's purse that she finished.

Lesa is making a purse like Irene's for her son's girlfriend.

Debbie worked on embroidery blocks. Look at her scrumptious thread! My feather weight is in the fore ground. I was working on paper pieced blocks with batiks and dyed fabrics.

Here are the blocks laid out. A few of the girls had never done paper piecing, so they made wedges too:)

Sandy S. worked on putting rail fence blocks together.

But mostly she napped! hee hee

Irene made Lesa kiss butt! What crazy girls! lol

I missed getting photos of Bonnie as some of them went fabric shopping during the day and she left to go home in the evening:(
Also not pictured is Sherry. She was gone most of the time at the hospital. As luck would have it, her new born grandson, Tyler Allen, decided to be born during the retreat!

Again we had a grand time, but it's always good to be back home to some welcoming cats. Cheddar and Bea had kept my chair warm for me.

So I kept quilting and finished up the blooming 9 patch quilt that I will be giving to my niece for her wedding this month. I had actually planned something different for her, but my crazy life had me choosing this one to finish instead. Hopefully she will love it just as much.

Hi Sweetie...
What a wonderful time you all had. I can hear the chatter and laughter, and sharing. That's what a retreat is all about. Love the purses and all the piece work that was invisioned and created. Just beautiful. I do believe a fabulous time was had by all. Thank you for sharing with me.

LOVE that paper-pieced batik block!! Are you going to use the black or trade it up for something else?
