Desert Rain
While in Nevada, hubby wanted a taste of the desert, so we went to see Red Rock Canyon. As luck would have it, we happened to choose a very wet day! We went anyway and shot photos between down pours.
It was wonderful to see such different plant life than what we are use to in our area. The land and the plants were all so striking.
We even found some plants in bloom.
There were several areas where the cactus appeared to have been in a fire and the land was trying to make a come back. So much variety in color and texture!
We also took a day and went to see Lake Mead and the Hoover Dam.
I guess you could say that it was "Dam" impressive!!!
Tomorrow, I will add the rest of the vacation photos.

Ha-ha! Dam impressive indeed! We visited there when I was little -- every summer we would take a 2-week family vacation. I think the last one we really took was to Hawaii when I was 14. I don't remember any afterwards. The dessert there sure looks different from what we have here. Mostly sand and little conservation. Have a great weekend. Tammy
When we went to Vegas we also went to Lake Mead and Hoover Dam. The Dam was impressive. Unbelieveable what it took to build it. Have you ever seen Fools Rush In. I loved that movie. The girl in the movie always throw a coin in the dam as she crossed over.
Wonderful photos!
The Dam is really impressive up close!
Hugs
Beautiful. Love those rock close ups! Abstract and interesting.
Waterfalls in the desert! Cool! xxoo
Wanda, Your photos of the desert are lovely. You manage to make it sound almost exotic this time of year. Personally, I'm ready for some cooler weather. Love our desert but I do long for cooler weather by the end of summer.
At least you saw some rain. Rain has been rare the past few years.
That dam is "dam impressive" isn't it.
The desert is so beautiful and different from my landscape here in Ohio. Thank you for sharing the colors and textures. Imagine and Live in Peace, Mary Helen Fernandez Stewart

Great photos! I haven't seen the desert in decades.
