The art of seeing and creating from nature

So many times we are so busy that we don't take the time to really appreciate the beauty around us, whether it be man made or of nature or how they interact with each other. This past week I recently had to have my car in the shop and knew I would be without wheels for a few hours, so I grabbed my walking shoes and camera and set out from the dealership on a 5 mile walk. The weather was as perfect as could be and a real view of what spring is about. Spring and fall are the two seasons that I always get caught up in missing out on, so I can gladly say that this time I captured some of it to share with you. I also have a fascination for architecture and for doorways and entrances. Nature can be mimicked or altered. A tree becomes a door, the stone and clay a side walk or a wall. Even flowers are picked and put into a vase in an arrangement other than that it's own original order.

Not playing with a full deck!

O.K. So many of you knew I wasn't playing with a full deck to begin with so what else is new? lol I have been taking some time lately getting some ATC's made and I just love these guys! Machine quilting is my forte' and even making something small isn't a chore and is a nice break from doing larger pieces. A little embellishment with paints and crystals go a long way:) So which is my favorite? I would say it was a draw!

Going Buggy!

I couldn't help but go a little buggy lately. I am doing a book mark swap for the fiber art group. Deciding what to do had me thinking all sorts of things in mind. I finally pondered on what I would have squished between the pages and it quite literally was the key in solving my mystery, so squished bugs it is! They are made up of florists wire that I satin stitched over. The wings are an organza while the body is cotton fabric with floresent looking glitter paint by Tri- Chem.
