Just Charming!

I have been wanting to get in on a charm swap and Michelle Cummings has a great one with an Alice in Wonderland theme! She has more spaces available, so click on her name and come on and join the fun! I can hardly wait to see what all we get. I am still a kid at heart.

A Trip Home

It has been a month since I last posted. The fact of the matter is that I have been gone almost the whole month! I took a trip back home to ND. My friend Kris went with me to spend time yet with another friend. It wasn't the most ideal time of the year to go, but my mom was having surgery on her shoulder and I was there mainly to help out. In Fargo, I met up and stayed with my sister, Peggy for two days. We went cross country skiing! Believe it or not, I had never done that before. While enjoyable, my ankles were very werie when I got done.

I was also there on a mission from dog! Mom's oldest dog had to be put to sleep and her other dog was so lonesome and she wanted to find another companion. I was on the internet hunting for weeks and fully expected to have a dog adopted from a shelter or rescue in our area. As it turned out, none had panned out and we finally found one in Jamestown ND . The gal at the rescue agreed to meet us in Valley City to see the dog. We drove through a snow storm and decided immediately that this would be a good dog for mom. He's a maltese/poodle mix. We couldn't adopt him until after his neuter that Monday. In the mean time, I stayed at my friend Jan's in McVille for a couple of days.

I was so afraid that the dogs wouldn't like each other, but they seemed to make immediate friends. Mom's other dog is a cockapoo. Sis and I bought matching sweaters for Valentines Day gifts for mom.

She eventually named the dog Coco "Puff" while her other dog's name is Brandy

While I was there, I also got to see my niece's little boy and hold him for the first time. Mason is such a sweetie and is now 5 months old.

When he was born, all I made were fleece blankets and his quilt never got finished until now. So this one is for him.

The quilt is called Hop Scotch

I also got a baby quilt finished while in ND for my daughter's friend's baby with the help of Jan. She had the perfect border fabric scrap so we did a search and got the rest of the fabric ordered from Minot. I got the border finished before I left and finally finished the binding last night. It's certainly a quilt I wouldn't have considered for a baby, but seems these days that the Bohemian look is in, so I know she is going to love it!

Another quilt I finished actually for Jan was her halloween quilt. She has since put crystals in the spider webs. I can imagine how sharp it really looks!

Mom is slowly healing and it will be awhile before we know if the surgery was really successful. It is a 50/50 chance that she may have to have more surgery since it was a major tear with lots of scar tissue. While there, I managed to take her to the hospital, clean her house, shop and take care of her Day Care business. It was exhausting but worth it to be home. I miss family, but I must certainly say that I didn't miss the cold weather! Hopefully the next visit will be more restful and with warm air to follow.
