Today I was in the mood for making some 4X4 pages of chunky book collage art. Funny how I use to hate turquoise, but have a new found love for it. I remember growing up with these colored walls back in the 50's. It seems everything was either turquoise or pink! The outside of our house was actually pink!
My cousin had written me a letter (I know a rarity these days with the internet). I love her hand writing and I couldn't bare discarding it, so it became part of the collage. The lace is a piece that I got from Lisa.
Here are some others that I finished up for the day.
I enjoyed playing with different colored backgrounds.
I was looking for my roller sponge brush but couldn't find it so dabbed Modge Podge on it with a regular sponge brush. It had a coarser texture than I would like.
I think the next ones that I do, I will try coating in wax. I also used distressing ink on the edges. I need to work on figuring out how NOT to have wrinkles in the paper. Perhaps a different glue?
as you can see these can get quite addicting!

Glorious! So, you lived in a Little Pink House, huh? Mine was brick, but we did have a turquoise kitchen for a while. I'm curious about what you used for a base on this collage. xxoo Patty
Patty, I used plain old white matt board:) I like it the best so that it is nice and stiff.
Beautiful collages, so colourful and textural and I love your use of the handwriting in your art. There's a house on a walk I have traipsed since I was a child which passes a building we call the Pink House. For the last 20 years the outside has been painted magnolia but habits die hard & I still refer to it as the Pink House. Px
I'm so glad you stopped by my blog; I always visit the blogs of people in return and yours is so lovely! Your art is wonderful. I would love to know what you used for the background colors of your 4 x 4s. I use acrylic paint, but it doesn't always go on as nicely as I would like. Your backgrounds are rich AND smooth.
BTW...my in-laws house is still pink! Has been since the 50's...
Wow you have certainly learned to embrace turquoise - not my fave colour either but I recently painted my shop with it (inside) and it looks kinda cool, love these 4x4's, I can see why they would be addictive, I haven't done that size - yet lol, you have a lovely way of using colour XXX
Thanks, Wanda! I started out with stretched canvas, but I just don't feel I have much control with it. Matt board sounds like the solution! xxoo Patty
You did some very interesting collages. I like your banner.
Thanks for stopping by my blog.
