For The Love of Dog! / WOYWW

There's nothing really much productive on my desk this week, only stuff that needs to be put away. I know it seems a disappointment but have been busy and gone this past week. I'm sure there are more exciting desks at Julia's Stamping Ground.

Instead I have something more important laying under my work desk. It will be a work in progress!  For you see, I must be getting crazier in my old age.  I was already a crazy cat lady, but now I had a yearning to own a dog.  We haven't had one in 30 years!  Several years ago, I saw a guy with a papillon and I decided that someday I would have one.  I started doing my research to be sure it was the right dog for me and not just its looks.  It's those butterfly ears that had me so long ago.  I knew it had to be a furever pet so I wanted to be sure!  I also didn't want to go through a puppy phase or a breeder and wanted to do a rescue instead.  I actually started looking for a female, but then this little guy came along and melted my heart.

Isn't he just as cute as the dickens?  In fact it may be his new name... Dickens.  Other names that people have come up with are Radar, Ears and Bones.  SO, tell ya what,  I need to do a "name the dog contest." The winner will get an initialed pendant for themselves in the process.  Throw in your vote or new name and let us know what you think.

You see, my former name is Jack, but since my new mom and dad have a cat named Jack, they said it should be something different.  I really don't care as long as I have this comfy bed!
Cat can't sleep in bed now. Neener, neener, nee.... ner! (sticking tongue out) I think cat should live in tree.  She look good there!

I have lots to learn about being spoiled. So far I have been to Arfy's (Mom says it's Arby's)  They have really good roast beef and then last night my step brother grilled chicken and that was really good too!
I am really shy and am having a dickens of a time.  I didn't have much social contact for the first 7 months of my life.  Then my former mom worked with me for about a year, but I had lots of Papillon friends to play with then. It was time to move on.  Now I have to get out of my shell, what ever that means.  I still don't know what toys are for.  All I know is that I like to lay at my new mom's feet and if she moves into the next room, I have to go find her so she doesn't get lost or the cats gang up and eat me! I'm a good doggie and I don't bark or cause any trouble.  My only problem is that I am scared in social situations and stiffen up.  I am even scared of some people trying to pet me as I think that they might hit me or something so I let them touch me slowly.  I do like to ride in the car and I even won a special prize with my first mom. She says I was Champion!  She was a good first mom, she just knows with all of the doggies she has, that she doesn't have the one on one time to spend with me that I need to have, so was thinking of my best interest and was willing to give me up for free if I had a really good home.  I think I has it!  Just gotta figure out how to chase the other cats up a tree!

Well, there you have it, my new little 9 lb. bundle of joy.  I drove 8 1/2 hours down to Georgia to go get him.  Even with the price of gas, he was worth it.  Shhhh.... don't tell him he's adopted.

CUTE...errr handsome, excuse me! had to laugh at the cat in the tree, he had to be put in the tree, he is a...uhm....well fed kitty! OK, 2 names come to mind, at first Pap for papillion for short, and then George, since you got him in Georgia. I figured he is already use to a human name ( Jack ) so he might like George! waving hi from the hills of North Carolina :)

Ooooh, He is SO cute! (And I much prefer cats, especially that ginger one up the tree!) But I'm hopeless thinking about names. He looks so fluffy and there's something endearing about those sticky up ears. Wish I could think of a clever name for you! (Mr Big Ears? hmmm?)

I think you should call him Ditto like in repeat, after all he is a repeat of name in the house. How funny that he's name was Jack and you already have a Jack.

He is one lucky little pooch having a loving family like yours.

I need to come back to you later when I have finished crying. We have been papillon owners for 30 years and our beautiful Bobby left us in November.
Your little fella is so sweet as they all are.
I will email you later in the day with some pictures and a story about him. I will just have another peep at your sweetheart before I go.

OMG he is the cutest dog ever! With his ears and colour he reminds me of Gizmo from the film 'Gremlins'! Adorable. I want one! Take care & enjoy this week's WOYWW offerings! Zo xx 68

Congratulations! He really is a cutie. I think Dickens is a lovely name.

You could call him Charles (Dickens) or Darls Chickens a la Matilda!

My boys would love a dog but I'm not a dog person, if you know what I mean. I've said they can have a dog and a plasma screen TV when we divorce (that's a joke as my husband and I made a pact that if we ever split up the one leaving had to take the children!)
I made my ATC using the bits and bobs you gave me and I'll post a photo of it soon.
Take care you crazy CatDog Woman

Just a comment for my first entry from Sandee, Just wanted to mention that REALLY Bea cat did climb the tree by herself. My Ani cat does the same thing. Did you notice, ironically that it was a "DOG"wood tree? It even has bark! LOL

Hey, desks are always interesting! I'd like to get a closer look at that picture next to your E-6000. Is it a photo or a drawing of a face? Have fun at your desk this week!

Love your comment in response to Sandee - lol. Your little dog is just gorgeous and I do love his ears, it would seem unkind to call him Yoda so I would stick with Dickens (or Charles?). He really is lovely.......Anne x #44

have you ever read about Tellington touch therapy for animals..it's a massage technique..not sure i follow all the claims..but the massage part can't hurt and the dogs seem to like it.

He's adorable ^..^ and what a lucky pooch coming to live at your place.
As to names...well firstly (a little corny but for obvious reasons) Lucky,
and when I saw those ears 'Gizmo' immediately came to mind but someone already mentioned that.
I do like 'Charlie' for the Dickens connection but then Dickens is great too. Oh my it's a tough one.
I do like 'Ditto' though...hmm...
You'll maybe have to see what kind of charactor he has. But one thing I know for sure...he's going to be such fun and give you lots of love. Enjoy Neesie #22

We use to have a siamese cat named Yoda. Named too because of his big ears. He was a great cat and lived to be 22 years old. Our son had a dog named Gizmo. I think he was a Pekinese.

He is so cute. I like the name Crafty Chriss suggested, Gizmo. He really looks like him. Glad he has someone to love him now.

Well, fURST, you must get the kitteh out of the tree and teach Pappy not to do that!! Second, I was driving home from work this afternoon and Pappy appear to me as I was sitting at the light waiting to turn. He said "Call me Oscar." I asked if he had any messages for you and he just said "Bacon." Sorry, that's all I could get out of him. So now you know, that's his name: Oscar. xxoo Patty

NEEDLEWINGS said...

ha ha Patty, you are too funny. Oscar seems more like a fish name. Maybe it was "call me Bacon" and it was Oscar who said it. LOL

Personally I like Dickens, but SIL thinks we will end up calling him Dick and said we may as well call him Penis. LOL Then the name Echo seemed better for them, but still hunting before we decide.

Hi is adorable! Pepper comes to mind. But I do also like Dickens.
