Today is the day I am suppose to post my bead soup and creation. I had Anna Lear as my trade partner and she sent me this lucious lot of goodies!
I set to work creating with them and try as I might, I was simply hating the red and blue combination together, so it was truly a challenge for me. No matter what I tried I hated it and it was no reflection on the design itself, I just couldn't put it together and like it. Instead, I decided to break it up into a couple of different pieces. I love this blue piece. I did use 3 of her elements from the package, the larger glass beads, the spacers and the enclosure. Very traditional, but also very nice.
Did you know that cats and beads don't mix? Well they don't! Besides having this medley of beads out, I had SEVERAL others out for auditioning. Then out of the blue and from the top shelf, I saw a blur of fluff! Kapow!!!! Beads every which direction! Under the counter, under the fridge and possibly into the next state! I cried! So, I have yet to post my red hot love affair! My piece had taken on another look, but much more less traditional (and now literally!) So alas, it isn't finished for today's debut, but when I have strung up my beads AND the cat, I will eventually get it posted. For now I have a date with my granddaughter and family, so stop back by later and I shall add it to this post.
Finally got a photo of the 2nd piece. It wasn't my original plan, but my muse hit me last night and decided not to use the aqua beads with it. In fact, I like this so much better and it really looks cool with a red shirt. I made the cord adjustable rathar than ad a clasp which is best for me with metal allergies unless I got a silver sterling one or gold.
I also want to thank everyone for being a follower and making it over 100! I will be giving away these medallions to be used as a pin or pendant. One goes to the 100th blogger (lanynard lady) while the other goes to one randomly picked to blogger #49 (Daffy Cat). Congratulations girls! I shall get them sent out as soon as I get your addresses.

really beautiful! can't wait to see the second piece.
oh yes, i believe the cats purposely target the bead table..
like this blue..good job.will check back to see the second piece
I love the blue piece and can't wait to see the red.
You're off to a great start!! Can't wait to see the red. And just so you know, chickens and beads don't mix either. I left my window open while the kiln cooled, then left it open an extra day. One of the chickens wandered in and wreaked havoc in my studio. Lesson learned.
Very nice piece. I know what you mean about cats and beads. I'm looking forward to seeing your next creation.
That's what I love most about this soup - you really have to challenge yourself. I'll back to see your other back!
Great piece, I liked how you used those blue beads, look forward to seeing the reds as those beads are luscious to look at.
Small kids are my beading nightmare, I have lost count how many times mine have caused huge spills.
I'm so thankful to the Bead Soup contest because I have found so many cool new blogs. Like Yours! I'm tacking you on to my bloglist so I can check back often.

I think it's actually wonderful that you found the right combination for you. One of the stipulations for the party was that you didn't have to use all the accent beads that were sent to you -- they were merely a possible jumping off point -- and you got that! My first party, I didn't use all my beads -- this party, I used every single one. You just have to decide where your creativity goes, and work where it takes you.
Good job!
I love it!
I know what you mean though, I just can't design with blue and red unless it's that dark brick red with pale aqua.
Can't wait to see the red piece!
That is so funny about the cat! I like the blue on your red background, so in a way you combined those colors! Enjoy the day! Erin
My son knocked my beading tray over last night and I had beads a-flyin' so I feel your pain! Still not sure I found everything, either. Lovely blue design. Can't wait to see what you do with the red!
love the necklace, and can't wait to see your other creation!
Funny about the cats I have 2 parrots that will fly to my shoulder and go right for the beads! Nice necklace!! Its hard sometimes I know what you mean about a feeling we get or done get etc along those lines. What beautiful reds you have there! (sounding like the wolf to Red Riding hood lol)
If any of the beads flew into Virginia, I'll give them a stern talking-to and send them back on their way. The blue piece is lovely and I'd like to see the red.
For me, red-blue works when its carnelian/turquoise or red branch coal./lapis or pale aqua and bright red. Whatever the colors, they have to hit you just right.
I like this piece - I can understand how blue and red would be a challenge when put together. But you created a ncie piece. Can't wait to see the red one.
Well, your blue piece is lovely and the red soup is gorgeous! Can't wait to see what you come up with.
Looking forward to the red hot love affair!
Love what you have done with the blue beads. Do not be too hard on the cat. Will be back to see what you do with the red beads.
Cats and kids can make a mess of your beads. Very nice blue design you made. I can't wait for the Red beads and hearts, two of my favorites.
very pretty!
Love the blue. Poor kitty. Don't be too hard on her. She just wanted to play with mom's pretty beads too!
Love them both. Glad your muse is alive and well and hope the cat is also!
LOL I knew that most cats and beads don't mix, having a dozen here at home. I love the soothing blue piece and can't wait to see the red hot piece you are going to make!
The hearts are gorgeous, well done on making all these lovelies ^_^ Virginie
thanks for visiting my blog and for letting me know you posted the second red piece. Well I have to say it was well worth the wait, what a spectacular piece you made, I love those handmade fibre and bead pendants, truly inspirational.
Congratulations to the winners of those aqua blue art focals, I am most envious. They are special for sure.
I love how you combined fiber with the beads. Very cool.
I'm not usually a "red" person, but your red piece is beautiful too. Very clever way of building a piece. And I LOVE the name of your blog!
I really like your second necklace your jewelery is very unique!
I'm glad I took a moment to stop back by to see the red piece - I really love it!
Thanks for your comments and for letting me know that the red piece was done. WOW, that is unique and I love it. You did a great job, unusual and lovely! Bravo!
I LOVE these! I'm a quilter too and would not have thought of making a little window for beads.
Now that's pretty! I like how you used mixed media to display your beads! It's bold and bright! Love this! Thanks for stopping by!
Isn't this FUN? I get to comment twice on your pieces! Wooooooohoooooo!
Love your red pieces - what an original idea! I've never seen anything like that before, so pretty. Thanks for your email! Not sure what's up with my blog, a couple of folk have said comments not working...must try and sort it out!
wow!! the blue piece is absolutely beautiful!!
OMG!! I LOVE the second piece!! I have metal allergies, too, and this looks just right for me! xxoo Patty
P.S. Oh, YES, I definitely know about kittehs and beads . . . or buttons . . . or pins . . . or bread ties . . . or pieces of wire . . . or anything, it seems!! LOL xxoo P
Those are great pieces!! I really like what you did with the second one. It has a really fun free feel to it. Great work!
You did a wonderful job, creating two totally different pieces.
They both are beautiful.
I'm back, and I have to say, the red piece is just amazing! Such a unique design; I've never seen anything like it and am completely entranced! You truly are a fiber artist, and a multimedia one as well. I love all of these pieces, but the red one just stands out in both color and form. SO COOL.
Thanks Anna, and everyone! Loved doing the bead soup. Now that I have done ONE, I will know what to expect next time and perhaps I will even try a bit more in advance to think more about the design a bit longer. lol
I really like the red heart necklace!
